Privacy
HIFI doesn’t collect anything about you.
HIFI has no account, and no analytics, advertising or tracking of its own, on the web or in the iPhone, iPad and Mac apps.
To play music, HIFI asks hifi.nates-software.com for the station list, the song now playing and the music files. Live stations stream straight from Radio Paradise, SomaFM and Exclusive Radio. Like any website, those servers see your IP address when they send the audio. HIFI doesn’t store it or link it to you.
If you join Nate’s Taste Makers, your email is kept only to add you to HIFI’s TestFlight beta, and Apple sends the invite. To be taken off the list, email nate.mcguire@gmail.com.
The website counts Mac downloads as one running number, shown on the home page. It keeps nothing about who downloaded.
101X Chillville on the web plays each song’s official video in YouTube’s privacy-enhanced player. When you play it, your browser loads that player from YouTube, YouTube may show its own ads, and Google’s privacy policy applies to what you watch there. The other stations never load anything from YouTube.
Connecting Spotify is optional. You sign in on Spotify’s own page, and HIFI never sees your password. The sign-in token stays on your device (in the browser’s storage on the web, the Keychain in the apps) and is only sent to Spotify, to save the songs you heart and list your playlists. Disconnect any time in Settings.
Your volume, last station and settings are saved on your own device and never leave it.
